Mary Steenburgen joins cast of 'Orange is The New Black' for Season 3

News of Steenburgen's casting comes seven days after the entire second season of the show was unveiled on Netflix.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y., June 13 (UPI) -- Mary Steenburgen announced Thursday via Twitter that she is joining Netflix's hit series Orange Is The New Black for its upcoming third season.

"Very excited to go to my first wardrobe fitting of OITNB!" wrote the 61-year-old actress. "Will I be in orange or black?:)."

News of Steenburgen's casting comes seven days after the entire second season of the show was unveiled on Netflix. The season has received mostly positive reviews including a score of 90 on aggregating reviews site Metacritic .

The Jenji Kohan comedy-drama series follows the 15-month prison sentence of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), an upper-middle class woman living in New York who is sent to federal prison for her involvement in a drug operation ten years prior.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the details behind Steenburgen's character have yet to be revealed.
