Martin Lawrence, Kelsey Grammer to star in 'Partners'

LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer's new series has received a premiere date.

The two actors and comedians will soon appear in Partners, a comedy on the FX channel. Lawrence stars as Marcus Jackson, a community activist going through a divorce, while Grammer portrays Allen Braddock, a hotshot lawyer fired from his own father's firm. The pair meet in court and form an unlikely friendship and partnership.

Telma Hopkins, Rory O'Malley, McKaley Miller, Edi Patterson and Danièle Watts also have recurring roles. Bob Boyett and Robert Horn serve as showrunners and executive producers.

The network has ordered ten initial episodes, and will order ninety more if the series is successful. Partners debuts at 9 p.m. ET August 4, and will air as back-to-back episodes for five consecutive weeks.
