LOS ANGELES, May 19 (UPI) -- True Blood has released the first full-length trailer for its seventh and final season.

The footage portends dark events to come as vampires swarm the streets of Bon Temps and Sookie (Anna Paquin) laments, "We can't go back to the way things were."

True Blood debuted in 2008 on HBO. The program is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, and focuses on telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse.

The series has been popular throughout its six-season run, but season seven will be its last. The final season premieres at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 22 on HBO.
