LOS ANGELES, April 29 (UPI) -- Blake Shelton took his friendly rivalry with Adam Levine to new heights on Monday when he tweeted the Maroon 5 frontman's phone number during The Voice.

The two coaches had started with some back-and-forth banter on Twitter shortly before the live episode began.

Shelton made good on his threat once the episode began and tweeted the information to his six million plus followers.

"It was his number," The Voice host Carson Daly tells Today. "I knew it was real because Adam told me it was real, but I didn't know if they were going to go through with it or how it would play out."

"Those two, they have issues they've got to solve," coach Shakira says. "They've got to work out those issues among themselves. But Blake should expect some kind of revenge from Adam, I can assure you that."

"There's a really cool, playful banter that goes on between us as coaches," coach Usher adds. "Because we're real -- we really do care about one another and though this is a competition and everybody obviously wants to win, we're enjoying it while we're doing it."

Levine's phone number has since been disconnected. The Voice airs at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on NBC.
