'The Simpsons' give first glimpse of LEGO episode, figurines

"The Simpsons" LEGO special marks the 550th episode of the series and will be titled "Brick Like Me."

LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- The Simpsons gave fans a treat on Tuesday when they posted the first glimpse of their upcoming LEGO-themed episode on Facebook.

The photo shows a hand-drawn Homer as he looks into the eyes of LEGO Marge. The pair stand against a LEGO backdrop made up of the toy company's signature colorful plastic pieces.

The Simpsons LEGO special marks the 550th episode of the series and will be titled "Brick Like Me."

"We've literally been at this [episode] for two years," executive producer Matt Selman tells TV Guide. "It's been an epic process."

"The LEGO brand is all about creativity and imagination," licensing and entertainment vice-president Jill Wilfert adds. "This was a chance for us to be a little edgier than we might normally be."

LEGO plans to debut special Simpsons figurines to mark the occasion. The LEGOs will go on sale May 1 and will cost $3.99 each.

The special Simpsons "Brick Like Me" episode will air Sunday, May 4 on FOX.
