NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- A CBS representative has denied that Chelsea Handler will receive a late night spot on the network.

The 39-year-old comedian hosts her own show on E!, Chelsea Lately, but recently announced she will end the series after her contract expires. Rumors that Handler was in talks with CBS for a late night program began on Monday after she posted a picture of herself holding CBS paperwork on her Instagram.

Many began to wonder if Handler would replace Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show, CBS's 12:30 a.m. spot, but a network representative says that is not the case.

"There are no discussions with Chelsea Handler regarding the network's 12:30 late night broadcast," the rep tells Vulture. "Her meeting with CBS yesterday was a general meeting with our syndication [division]."

Handler's contract with E! expires at the end of this year, and Ferguson's with CBS expires in June 2015.
