NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Cate Blanchett has canceled scheduled appearances on "Good Morning America" and "Live! With Kelly and Michael" following the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The Australian actress was booked on Friday's editions of the New York morning programs to talk about her new film "The Monuments Men" and her Oscar-nominated performance in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine."

However, Blanchett has become a target for questions about Hoffman, who died last weekend of a suspected heroin overdose, and Allen, whose daughter accused him in a letter posted on the New York Times website of molesting her as a child.

Blanchett's publicist told the Hollywood Reporter the television interviews were canceled "to allow Cate the time and privacy to grieve for the loss of her friend Philip Seymour Hoffman."

The actress will be seen with the rest of "The Monuments Men" cast on Thursday's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," but the group interview was taped before Hoffman's death, THR said.

Blanchett and Hoffman co-starred in "The Talented Mr. Ripley," along with Blanchett's "Monuments Men" co-star Matt Damon.
