A third vehicle allegedly started the chain reaction, but the driver fled the scene after the truck hit the Chapmans' SUV, the celebrity news website said.

The accident remains under investigation.

The couple starred in the A&E reality series, "Dog the Bounty Hunter," for eight seasons until 2012.
