'Dallas Buyers Club,' 'Captain Phillips' make PGA Award shortlist

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- "American Hustle," "Blue Jasmine," "Captain Phillips" and "Gravity" are among the nominees for the Producers Guild of America's top film prize for 2013.

The four movies' producing teams will compete with those of "Dallas Buyers Club," "Her," "Nebraska," "Saving Mr. Banks," "12 Years a Slave" and "Wolf of Wall Street" for The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

In the running for the Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures are "The Croods," "Despicable Me 2," "Epic," "Frozen" and "Monsters University."

Up for the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Long-Form Television are "American Horror Story: Asylum," "Behind the Candelabra," "Killing Kennedy," "Phil Spector" and "Top of the Lake."

The nominees for the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama are "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland" and "House of Cards."

Shortlisted for the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Comedy are "30 Rock," "Arrested Development," "The Big Bang Theory," "Modern Family" and "VEEP."

Vying for the Award for Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction Television are "30 for 30," "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown," "Duck Dynasty," "Inside The Actors Studio" and "Shark Tank."

Winners of the PGA Awards will be announced Jan. 19 at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
