LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Candace Cameron Bure, who played D.J. Tanner on "Full House," says she became bulimic when she moved to Montreal with her hockey player husband.

Bure, 37, has just published "Balancing It All," about juggling her marriage and children and her career. She talked about her eating disorder in an interview with "Omg! Insider."

In the interview, she said she grew up as a child actress without eating disorders, thanks to her parents and the "Full House" producers. But she said she started using food as a comforter after she married Valeri Bure in 1996 and moved to Montreal, where he was then playing with the Canadiens.

"Clearly it wasn't a healthy way to deal with things," she said. "That's really when my faith was kicked up a notch, and I sought comfort in my relationship with God and not with food."

Cameron's brother, Kirk Cameron, was also a child TV star on "Growing Pains." He is now a Christian evangelist.
