'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' 'Girls' up for Best Comedy Globe

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- "The Big Bang Theory," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Girls" were nominated for the Best Comedy Series Golden Globe Award in Los Angeles Thursday.

The shows will vie with "Modern Family" and "Parks and Recreation" for the title.

In the running for Best Actor in a TV Comedy are Jason Bateman for "Arrested Development," Don Cheadle for "House of Lies," Michael J. Fox for "The Michael J. Fox Show," Jim Parsons for "The Big Bang Theory" and Andy Samberg for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

Shortlisted for Best Actress in a TV Comedy are Zooey Deschanel for "New Girl," Edie Falco for "Nurse Jackie," Lena Dunham for "Girls," Julia Louis-Dreyfus for "Veep" and Amy Poehler for "Parks and Recreation."

Up for Best Drama are "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "The Good Wife," "House of Cards" an

"Masters of Sex."

The nominees for Best Actress in a TV Drama are Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife," Tatiana Maslany for "Orphan Black," Taylor Schilling for "Orange is the New Black," Kerry Washington for "Scandal" and Robin Wright for "House of Cards."

Competing for the title of Best Actor in a Drama are Bryan Cranston for "Breaking Bad," Liev Schreiber for "Ray Donovan," Michael Sheen for "Masters of Sex," Kevin Spacey for "House of Cards" and James Spader, for "The Blacklist."

Winners will be announced at a ceremony Jan. 12. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are to serve as co-hosts.
