LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Adam Shankman's publicist says the U.S. choreographer and film director has checked into rehab for unspecified reasons.

"Adam Shankman is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center," his representative said in a statement to UsMagazine.com Monday. "His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery."

Shankman, 49, is known for helming the films "A Walk to Remember," "Bringing Down the House," the 2007 remake of "Hairspray" and "Rock of Ages."
