NEW YORK, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Syfy says it has renewed "Face Off," its Hollywood special-effects makeup competition series, for a sixth season.

Set to return in January 2014, the show will introduce 14 new makeup artists who will "face extreme challenges that will inspire them to create the most magnificent characters and creatures in 'Face Off' history," the cable network said in a news release Monday.

Syfy also said it plans to air the original "Face Off" specials -- "Naked and Painted" and "Judges' Favorites" -- next month.
