Miley Cyrus plays Michele Bachman in SNL skit

NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Pop star Miley Cyrus played U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., in a parody of her "We Won't Stop" music video on "Saturday Night Live."

The spoof featured Cyrus dressed in a revealing dress suit and sporting a shoulder-length wig singing "We Did Stop (The Government)" to the tune of her "We Can't Stop" single, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The SNL digital short made fun of last week's government shutdown.

She later sang an acoustic version of "We Can't Stop" while seated as the show's musical guest. Her second musical performance was of her hit "Wrecking Ball."

During her opening monologue, Cyrus insisted she wouldn't apologize for her MTV VMAs performance, in which she danced suggestively in revealing clothing and sang along to "Blurred Lines" with singer Robin Thicke.

"If I owe anyone apology, it's the people who make the bottom half of shirts," she said, adding that she wouldn't be twerking or playing Hannah Montana on the episode.

"But I can give you an update of what she's up to," Cyrus said of her former Disney character. "She was murdered."
