Bob Newhart, Bill Nye to guest star on 'Big Bang Theory'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. actor and comedian Bob Newhart is to return to "The Big Bang Theory" in his Emmy Award-winning role of Professor Proton, CBS announced.

Bill Nye "The Science Guy" is also to appear in the Nov. 7 episode of the sitcom.

"When Professor Proton contacts Leonard to ask for help with an experiment, a scorned Sheldon seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host, Bill Nye," a synopsis said.

Johnny Galecki plays Leonard and Jim Parsons plays Sheldon.
