LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Jodie Foster is dating photographer Alexandra Hedison, ex-girlfriend of talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, E! News said.

"It's pretty serious," a source told the news outlet about Foster and Hedison. "They're totally in love."

Hedison dated DeGeneres for about three years before they broke up in 2004. DeGeneres went on to marry actress Portia de Rossi.

In accepting her Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in January, Foster thanked her ex-girlfriend Cydney Bernard, spoke of her need for privacy and declared she did her "coming out a thousand years ago, in the Stone Age."

Foster and Bernard are co-parents to sons Charles and Kit. They ended their 20-year relationship in 2008.
