LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Melissa Joan Hart has revealed she experimented with drugs, including mescaline and ecstasy, for about 18 months when she was in her 20s.

Best known for her roles on the family programs "Clarissa Explains It All," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "Melissa & Joey," the 37-year-old actress talks about her former hard-partying ways in her forthcoming autobiography, "Melissa Explains It All," said Life & Style magazine, which previewed the book.

"I experimented with weed, Ecstasy, mushrooms and mescaline for about a year and a half," the magazine quoted the married mother of three children as saying.

TVGuide.com said the book is set for release Oct. 29.
