Keyshawn Johnson gets the boot on 'Dancing with the Stars'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Professional football player Keyshawn Johnson became the first celebrity eliminated from Season 17 of "Dancing with the Stars" in Los Angeles Monday night.

Johnson said he was grateful for the experience to learn how to dance since he was previously "a guy who has never even bobbed his head in the car" to music.

He also praised his professional dance partner Sharna Burgess as "amazing."

Still in the running for the coveted mirror-ball trophy are actresses Valerie Harper, Elizabeth Berkley and Amber Riley, singer Christina Milian, "Jersey Shore" alum Snooki Polizzi, singer-actor Corbin Bleu, actress Leah Remini, comedian Bill Engvall, actor Brant Daugherty, Bill Nye "The Science Guy" and reality TV personality Jack Osbourne.

Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet are the co-hosts of the show.
