Jon Hamm to have polyp removed from vocal cord

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Jon Hamm is to undergo surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cords, Gossip Cop reported Monday.

The celebrity news website categorized this as a routine outpatient procedure and said the polyp is not cancerous.

No other information about the actor's condition was immediately available.

The "Mad Men" star attended the Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles Sunday night, but lost the Best Actor in a Drama prize to "The Newsroom" star Jeff Daniels.
