CBS renews 'Big Brother' for summer 2014

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. reality competition series "Big Brother" has been renewed for a 16th season, CBS announced Thursday.

Season 15 is to wrap up with a 90-minute finale Sept. 18. Julie Chen is the show's host.

Season 16 is to be broadcast next summer.

The series sequesters a group of housemates from the outside world and places them under 24-hour surveillance for weeks during which they compete in various challenges.
