ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Liev Schreiber serves as host and narrator of "Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle," a documentary to premiere Oct. 15, PBS announced.

The newest film from Emmy Award-winning producer/director Michael Kantor includes interviews from comic-book mastermind Stan Lee; superhero portrayers Adam West and Lynda Carter; Geoff Johns, chief creative officer of DC Comics; Jeph Loeb, head of television for Marvel Entertainment; Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon; and cartoonist/author Jules Feiffer.

Co-written by Kantor and Laurence Maslon the 3-hour program was initially to premiere on PBS Oct. 8 and play over three weeks, but will now be a one-evening event, the network said.

"'Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle' is one of the most comprehensive surveys of the vibrant comic-book industry ever created; it explores cultural histories in an entertaining and educational way -- just as PBS viewers have come to expect," Donald Thoms, vice president of programming and talent management for PBS, said in a statement.

Schreiber co-starred in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and plays the title character on Showtime's "Ray Donovan." He also plays a supporting role in "Lee Daniels' The Butler."
