"Behind the Candelabra," a TV movie about Liberace's life, is up for 15 Emmys -- awards honoring the year's best in television.

John's performance, which will accompany an appearance by Emmy-nominated "Candelabra" co-stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, will mark the singer's first time on the TV awards show.

The appearance coincides with the Sept. 24 release of "The Diving Board," his first studio album in seven years.
