HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lopez is close to signing a deal to return to "American Idol" as a judge for the reality show's 13th season, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The pop star served as a judge in 2011 and 2012 but took a break last year as Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban helmed the judges' desk.

All but Urban announced at the end of last season they would not be returning to the popular singing competition. It was announced Friday that Urban signed an agreement to return to the show.

Also under consideration for Season 13's judges' panel is Will.I.Am, Black Eyed Peas frontman and solo artist, The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday.

The source told the publication that Lopez and Will.I.Am are "hilarious together," and new executive producer Per Blankens is keen to find "big names" to fill out the panel.
