NEW YORK, July 19 (UPI) -- Troubled actress Amanda Bynes was asked to leave a Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York City because she was so rude to the staff, TMZ reported.

Bynes got the boot Thursday because she allegedly smoked marijuana in her room repeatedly after she was told not to, then was so insulting to a front desk clerk, she made her cry, the celebrity news website said.

Bynes reportedly told the young woman she was "too ugly" to check her in as a guest, then offered to introduce the clerk to a plastic surgeon, TMZ said.

Bynes insisted to the website she left the hotel of her own accord.

The 27-year-old starlet is known for her work on "The Amanda Show," as well as in the films "Hairspray" and "What a Girl Wants," but her last major screen credit was a supporting role in 2010's "Easy A."

Her once-bright career has been eclipsed in recent years by her bizarre Twitter rants and media reports of her erratic behavior and brushes with the law.
