'Breaking Bad,' 'House of Cards' up for Emmy Awards

LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland," "House of Cards" and "Mad Men" were nominated for the Best Drama Emmy in Los Angeles Thursday.

The nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama are Bryan Cranston for "Breaking Bad," Hugh Bonneville for "Downton Abbey," Damian Lewis for "Homeland," Kevin Spacey for "House of Cards," Jon Hamm for "Mad Men" and Jeff Daniels for "The Newsroom."

Up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama are Vera Farmiga for "Bates Motel," Michelle Dockery for "Downton Abbey," Claire Danes for "Homeland," Robin Wright for "House of Cards," Elisabeth Moss for "Mad Men," Connie Britton for "Nashville" and Kerry Washington for "Scandal."

Nominated for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie are "American Horror Story: Asylum," "Behind the Candelabra," "The Bible," "Phil Spector," "Political Animals" and "Top of the Lake."

Shortlisted for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie are Benedict Cumberbatch for "Parade's End," Michael Douglas for "Behind the Candelabra," Matt Damon for "Behind the Candelabra," Toby Jones for "The Girl" and Al Pacino for "Phil Spector."

In the running for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie are Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story: Asylum," Laura Linney for "The Big C: Hereafter," Helen Mirren for "Phil Spector," Elisabeth Moss for "Top of the Lake" and Sigourney Weaver for "Political Animals."

Winners of the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced at a Sept. 22 ceremony to air on CBS.
