LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- HBO announced Monday it has ordered a seventh season of its American vampire drama "True Blood" to air next summer.

"'True Blood' remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers," HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo said in a statement. "Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV."

HBO went on to say the Anna Paquin-starring series is "exceeding 10 million viewers per episode."
