LOS ANGELES, June 25 (UPI) -- About 13.14 million viewers tuned in for the U.S. television premiere of "Under the Dome," a series based on Stephen King's novel, CBS said Tuesday.

The program was produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television.

CBS said Monday's series premiere was the most-watched summer drama premiere on any network since CBS' "2000 Malibu Road" started in 1992.

"Under the Dome" stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford, Aisha Hinds, Jeff Fahey and Dean Norris. It is about a small town that is "suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome," a synopsis said.
