LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) -- About 5.4 million viewers tuned in for this week's Season 3 finale of HBO's medieval fantasy series "Game of Thrones," Hollywood's Variety newspaper said.

Sunday's episode drew its second-largest audience to date behind only the show's May 5 installment, which drew 5.5 million.

HBO has renewed "Game of Thrones" for a fourth season to air next year. Starring Peter Dinklage, Aidan Gillen, Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey, the show is based on George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of books.
