NEW YORK, June 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. syndicated daily chat program "The Wendy Williams Show" has been renewed through the 2016-17 television season, producers announced.

"Over the last few years, ['The Wendy Williams Show'] evolved into the ideal lead-out to our morning news blocks," Fox programming executive Frank Cicha said in a statement to TVGuide.com Tuesday.

"Like our news, the show delivers a day/date immediacy that serves as a blueprint for where we want to be the rest of the day."

The Monday through Friday show is now in its fifth season.
