Dominic West lands the lead in Showtime pilot 'The Affair'

LOS ANGELES, June 3 (UPI) -- British actor Dominic West is to play the male lead in the U.S. drama pilot "The Affair," Showtime announced Monday.

The former star of "The Wire" will play Noah, "a good husband, devoted father of four, and New York City high school teacher whose settled, comfortable world is about to implode when he meets a woman he thinks is his soul mate," said a synopsis of "The Affair."

Written by Sarah Treem, the one-hour relationship drama will be told separately from the male and female perspective. Casting for the woman lead has not been announced yet.

West's film credits include "Chicago," "300," "The Forgotten," "28 Days," "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace," "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Mona Lisa Smile."
