LOS ANGELES, May 30 (UPI) -- Netflix said Thursday it will order more episodes of the U.S. sitcom "Arrested Development" if the stars and writers agree to return.

Chief Executive Officer Reed Hastings told CNBC a fifth season of the show is possible if all the cast members, many of whom also have busy film schedules, can find time to record fresh episodes.

The critically acclaimed but low-rated show about a wealthy dysfunctional family was canceled in 2006 after three seasons but has had a second life on DVD.

Netflix revived the series for a 15-episode fourth season to stream in its entirety for its subscribers, which started Sunday.

Most of the series' original cast -- including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat -- returned for the fourth season.

"It's been huge, just as we had hoped," Hastings told CNBC, declining to release how many people have streamed the show since it returned online Sunday.

"Netflix is about being able to watch when you want," he said. "So we're really not focused on the Day 1 ratings, it's really over the first year."
