Christine White, 'Twilight Zone' icon, dead at 86

WASHINGTON, May 19 (UPI) -- Television actress Christine White has died in Washington, her representatives announced. She was 86.

Best known for her role opposite William Shatner in the "Twilight Zone" episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet," White died April 14.

TVGuide.com confirmed her death Sunday, but did not say what the cause was or what has taken so long for news of her death to have been released.

White's other small-screen credits include "Bonanza," "The Rifleman" and "The Untouchables."

TVGuide.com said she is survived by several nieces and nephews.
