MINNEAPOLIS, May 17 (UPI) -- "Mad Men" actor Vincent Kartheiser is to play the romantic hero Mr. Darcy in a Minnesota staging of "Pride and Prejudice" this summer, producers said Friday.

It has been more than 20 years since the Minneapolis-born actor last appeared on the Guthrie Theater stage.

His first production at the venue was "A Christmas Carol" in 1986. He was 7 when he played Tiny Tim. He subsequently appeared in 1990 Guthrie productions of "Henry V" and "Henry IV." He now plays New York advertising executive Pete Campbell on "Mad Men."

"Pride and Prejudice," based on Jane Austen's classic novel, will begin previews July 6, with an opening night set for July 12. It will run through Aug. 31.
