Second season of 'Orphan Black' to air in 2014

TORONTO, May 6 (UPI) -- Production on a second season of the Canadian drama series "Orphan Black" is to begin this year, the conspiracy clone thriller's producers announced.

The show airs on Canada's Space network and BBC America. Season 2 is expected to premiere in the spring of 2014.

"We're delighted with the second season order for 'Orphan Black' and want to thank everyone at Space, BBC America, and BBC Worldwide for their support and commitment to our show," David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg -- executive producers of "Orphan Black" and co-presidents of Temple Street Productions -- said in a joint statement.

"We're thrilled to continue this journey with such a strong team and fantastic cast, led by the ridiculously talented Tatiana Maslany. A huge thanks to the fans for their steadfast support of the show. We're looking forward to giving every one of them more 'Orphan Black.'"

The science-fiction series co-stars Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris and Maria Doyle Kennedy.
