Sunil Nayar to take over as 'Revenge' showrunner

HOLLYWOOD, May 4 (UPI) -- "Revenge" writer Sunil Nayar will take over as showrunner for the ABC drama after the departure of former showrunner Mike Kelley, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Nayar signed a two-year contract with ABC Studios, though the renewal of "Revenge" for a third season is not certain after a decline in ratings and harsh reviews from viewers during the second season, the trade paper reported Friday.

Kelley announced his departure two weeks ago after the drama's uneven second season.

Nayar joined the "Revenge" team at the start of the second season. He previously worked on ABC's "Body of Proof" as well as "CSI: Miami" and CBS' short-lived "Three Rivers."
