LOS ANGELES, April 23 (UPI) -- Allan Arbus, who played the caustic Dr. Sidney Freedman on "M*A*S*H,' died at his Los Angeles home. He was 95.

Arbus' ex-wife, fashion photographer Diane Arbus, confirmed the death to Hollywood.com.

Arbus became an actor after ditching a career as a photographer. In addition to his recurring role on the long-running Korean War series, Arbus appeared in such exploitation fare as "Coffy" and more recently on the TV series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" as an uncle falsely accused of abusing Larry.

Arbus was born in 1918 and enrolled in New York City College at the age of 15. He worked at Russek's Department store in Manhattan and married the boss' daughter, with whom he started a photography business.
