MTV refuses to allow 'Buckwild' to change networks

HOLLYWOOD, April 20 (UPI) -- Top executives at MTV have refused to allow its canceled rural West Virginia-set reality series "Buckwild" to move to another network, the show's producer said.

MTV canceled the show April 9 after 21-year-old cast member Shain Gandee died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning during an off-roading mishap April 1.

Producer J.P. Williams said he wanted to try to extricate the show from MTV and take it to another network, but executives Van Toffler and Susanne Daniels refused, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

"MTV is the most hypocritical network out there," Williams says. "Van and Susanne can keep promoting pre-marital sex and promoting leaving the baby after you have it [on Teen Mom]. I'm so glad they have found their moral bar."

A source said talks between Williams and MTV on moving the show broke down Friday.
