LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Paul Jolley, a 23-year-old Tennessee native, has been eliminated from Season 12 of "American Idol" in Los Angeles.

Jolley sang Heart's "Alone" Thursday night in his attempt to get the judges to use their single save option of the season to let him stay, but it didn't work.

Eight contestants remain on the singing competition series.

Ryan Seacrest is the show's host. Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are its judges.
