NEW YORK, March 19 (UPI) -- Syfy says it has renewed its Hollywood makeup reality competition series "Face Off" for a fifth season.

Production on the new season is to begin in Los Angeles next month for a summer premiere.

"'Face Off' continues to prove itself as a ratings hit, earning critical and viewer accolades alike, and we are proud to bring the series back for another stunning season," Mark Stern, Syfy's president of original content and co-head of original content for Universal Cable Productions, said in a statement Monday.

Season 4 of "Face Off" airs Tuesday nights.
