HOLLYWOOD, March 2 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Annie Potts will star in a pilot for ABC's "Murder in Manhattan" in which a mother-daughter team play amateur sleuths, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The series is an hour-long dramedy set in New York City in which Potts as Blyth Sutton takes up the unsolved murder of second husband, the entertainment industry publication reported Friday.

"Legend of the Seeker" star Bridget Regan is slotted to play Sutton's daughter, Lex, who joins her mother in solving crimes. Enver Gjokaj, Brendan Hines and Shirley Rumierk will co-star, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The ABC Studios/DarkFire production will be executive produced by Ryan Reynolds, Jonathon Komack Martin, Allen Loeb and Maria Maggenti. Maggenti will also write and Cheri Nowlan will direct the pilot.
