LONDON, March 1 (UPI) -- Ricky Gervais, creator of the original British version of the comedy series "The Office," has taped a mini-episode of the show to air on the BBC.
Gervais reprises his role of office manager David Brent in "The Office Revisited," which will air March 15 as part of the British network's annual Red Nose Day fundraiser for Comic Relief. It will also be posted on YouTube that day, EW.com reported.
"It has been 10 years since we last saw David Brent," Gervais said in a statement. "I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he's been up to for the last decade and most importantly what he's up to now. ... He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now and is living vicariously through a young performer, Dom Johnson. Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock 'n' roll. Fans of 'The Office' will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of 'The Serpent Who Guards the Gates of Hell' and an amazing Brent self-funded video, 'Equality Street.' Horrendous."
The celebrated British version of "The Office" ran for two seasons (2001-03) and included 14 episodes. A U.S. adaptation of the workplace comedy is wrapping up its 8th season this spring.
