'Les Mis,' 'Brave' win CAS awards

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- The "Les Miserables" sound mixing team won the Cinema Audio Society award for a live action feature at the 49th annual CAS Awards Saturday in Los Angeles.

" Les Miserables" is also nominated for a sound mixing Oscar, The Hollywood Reporter said, and will face off with "Argo," "Life of Pi," "Lincoln" and "Skyfall" for the award.

"Brave" won the CAS trophy for animated features, The Hollywood Reporter said, and Jonathan Demme received the CAS Filmmaker Award.

Chris Newman, of "The Exorcist" and the "English Patient" won the CAS Career Achievement Award, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Other CAS winners include "Hatfields & McCoy's," "Homeland" and "Modern Family."
