LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Peter Sarsgaard is to play a villain in the third season of the Seattle-set crime drama "The Killing," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Sarsgaard's film credits include "Boys Don't Cry," "Shattered Glass," "Kinsey," "Jarhead," "Flightplan," "An Education" and "The Green Lantern."

The entertainment industry trade newspaper said the actor will head to the small screen to play manipulative Death Row inmate Tom Seward in the upcoming, 12-episode season of "The Killing."
