LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- CBS says it has renewed its U.S. investigative drama "NCIS" for the 2013-14 television season, with its star Mark Harmon set to return.

"In a world gone niche, 'NCIS' keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the No. 1 show on television," Leslie Moonves, president and chief executive officer of CBS Corp., said in a statement Friday.

"'NCIS' is the type of franchise every company wants in today's global content ecosystem -- high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform."

The series about crime-solvers for the Naval Investigative Service is in its 10th season.
