'Homeland,' 'Game Change' take top TV Globes

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Showtime's CIA thriller "Homeland" and HBO's political drama "Game Change" won big at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night.

"Homeland" was declared Best Drama Series and its leading man, Damian Lewis, Best Actor in a Drama Series. Claire Danes won the Best Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the show, as well.

"Game Change," a film about 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's rise to fame, was named Best TV Movie or Miniseries.

Julianne Moore won the award for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for her spot-on portrayal of Palin. Her co-star, Ed Harris, who played Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, won for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, Miniseries or Movie.

Kevin Costner picked up the statuette for Best Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for his work in "Hatfields and McCoys."

Maggie Smith, who didn't attend the prize presentation, earned the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series, Miniseries or Movie trophy for her depiction of the tough-as-nails, always quotable Dowager Countess of Grantham in PBS' "Downton Abbey."
