DUBLIN, Ireland, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- An Irish edition of the Boston pub-set sitcom "Cheers" is in the works, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Teach Sean" would take place at a tavern in a rural West Ireland.

Casting, re-writing and translation of the original show's scripts are expected to begin in January.

If all goes well, shooting will begin in late 2013, with a tentative air date expected in early January 2014, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The U.S. version of the show ran on NBC from

1982 to 1993. Still popular in reruns on cable television, it starred Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, Kirstie Alley, Kelsey Grammer and Woody Harrelson.
