'GMA' anchor Sam Champion weds artist Rubem Robierb

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- "Good Morning America" anchor Sam Champion married his longtime partner, Brazilian artist Rubem Robierb, in New York Friday afternoon.

The couple wed in an intimate ceremony at Champion's apartment, surrounded by friends, family and Champion's fellow "GMA" anchors -- George Stephanopoulos and Lara Spencer, ABC News said.

Robierb's mother and sisters Skyped in from Brazil to be a part of the special day.

"GMA" co-host Robin Roberts, who has been out on sick leave, also played a part in the nuptials by reading a beautiful poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

New York state Supreme Court Justice George J. Silver officiated the ceremony, which lasted about 10 minutes.

The newlyweds plan to have a party in Miami, where Robierb lives, Dec. 31 to further celebrate their marriage, ABC News said.
