Denise Stapley wins 'Survivor: Philippines'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Denise Stapley, a 41-year-old sex therapist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been declared the winner of the TV reality competition show "Survivor: Philippines."

Stapley beat out fellow finalists former "Facts of Life" star Lisa Whelchel and author and professional speaker Mike Skupin to win the $1 million prize during Sunday's finale.

Jeff Probst serves as host of the "Survivor" franchise, which just wrapped its 25th season.
