NEW YORK, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- A third man has alleged he had underage sex with Kevin Clash, the former "Sesame Street" puppeteer who played Elmo for decades, New York court records show.

TMZ reported Tuesday the latest lawsuit said a man identified as John Doe was 16 in 2000 when he met Clash, now 52, through a gay phone chat line.

The alleged victim said Clash identified himself as Craig, got him drunk and engaged in sexual activity with him in his Manhattan apartment where the teen saw "numerous Elmo dolls and photographs of Elmo with famous people such as Beyonce and Tyra Banks," the lawsuit said.

Clash's spokeswoman told TMZ he "believes this lawsuit has no merit."

The puppeteer resigned from "Sesame Street" last week after 28 years, following two other men's claims they had sex with him when they were under the age of 18.
