LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Characters played by U.S. actors Ted Danson and Gary Sinise will team up to solve a mystery in a two-part "CSI" crossover event, CBS said Tuesday.

Sinise is to guest star as his character Mac Taylor on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Feb. 6. Danson will appear as D.B. Russell on "CSI: New York" Feb. 8.

"On 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,' Detective Mac Taylor arrives in Las Vegas to surprise his girlfriend [played by Megan Dodds] but learns she is missing. Now with her hotel room a crime scene, he joins forces with D.B. Russell and his Las Vegas CSI team in an effort to find her," a synopsis said. "The search for Mac's girlfriend continues on 'CSI: NY' as Russell heads to New York to help Taylor, but even after apprehending one of the men responsible for Christine's kidnapping, they still need to determine the motive and whether she is still alive. The case gets personal for Taylor as he wrestles with breaking police protocol in an effort to find the kidnappers."
